The urban study for the Leidse square, the major cultural and leisure center of the city of Amsterdam, gives an integral vision on the reorganization of the network of public transport, motorized traffic, cyclists and pedestrians on the Leidse square. Broad research has been done, studying the identity of the area, user groups and movement patterns, connected to the intensity and 24-hour users-cycle. The main target of the study was to find solutions for the scrambled and chaotic public space at the Leidse square. An important request from the municipality was the re-claiming the public space for the pedestrian.
