UNS Talks with Mariana Pestana and Rory Hyde, Curators of Architecture at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London.
"The Future Starts Here" is a blockbuster exhibition currently on show at the V&A Museum in London, exploring the power of design in shaping the world of tomorrow. Design is, of course, always about the future. Curators Rory Hyde and Mariana Pestana discuss the key technologies appearing on the horizon and how they could impact our lives. From smart appliances to satellites, artificial intelligence to internet culture, this exhibition brings together more than 100 objects as a landscape of possibilities for the near future.

Mariana, who is originally an architect, is a teacher as well as curator. She has taught at Central Saint Martins, Chelsea College of Arts, Royal College of Art and the Sandberg Institute. She is also co-founder of a collective called The Decorators, with whom she develops curatorial and research projects.

Rory is also originally an architect, and has lived and worked in Holland for many years, working at MVRDV and OMA before moving to London to explore curation. His work is focuses on new forms of design practice for the public good, and the changing role of the designer today. He is also Adjunct Senior Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne, and a Design Advocate for the Mayor of London.

Below, are a series of videos by SuperFlux that give a taste of the exhibition itself, as well as the themes and topics it addresses.
