UNStudio Celebrates Opening of New Office in Dubai

UNStudio marked the expansion of its presence in the Middle East, opening a new satellite office in Dubai.

UNStudio has officially opened its doors in Dubai, and will have a full-time team present in the Middle East.

“We took the opportunity now, during design week, expo and catching the optimistic wave overall in Dubai and beyond, to celebrate this milestone with all of you,” Ajran Pit, UNStudio’s Managing Director MEA, said at an launching event at Collab Space in Dubai.

Operational since December 20, 2020, UNStudio Middle East in Dubai will serve the local community and boost our understanding of the region to serve local clients better.

“The Middle East is a dynamic, constantly innovating and ambitious part of the world and looking close to home, with Dubai as a research subject a narrative was established around several interventions, typologies and targets,” Pit noted.

“We are here in the Middle East to engage in conversations and identify new opportunities, stakeholders and engage with specialists, suppliers, authorities and developers to steer towards the design of sustainable buildings and places, regeneration of underperforming built environment, creating healthy communities and engagement from citizens.”

The new office is the result of an increase in work in this region. In Dubai, the wasl Tower, which will feature the world’s tallest ceramic facade, is currently being built, and we recently finished work on the Doha Metro Network in Qatar.

Being part of the united network of UNStudio, the office in Dubai will cover the region of the Middle East. Altogether, UNStudio’s offices share expertise and exchange knowledge in order to form the best teams for the projects we do.

With these new offices in place, Amsterdam will remain the headquarters from which - depending on local demand - projects can be supported with know-how, resources and expert staff.

UNStudio was founded in 1988 under the name of Van Berkel and Bos, with the Amsterdam office opening first, followed by Shanghai in 2008 and Hong Kong in 2014. Our Frankfurt office opened in 2019.
