Aiming to be one of the most expensive mixed-use developments in China, the first phase of the K. Wah G72 project in Nanjing, which combines culture, sustainable innovation and lifestyle, has reached a height of 110 meters, marking the official topping out of this phase.
Phase I of the project includes two apartment towers, an office tower, and commercial and cultural functions. The second and third phases of the project will continue to be constructed.
UNStudio-Designed K. Wah G72 Mixed-use Development Phase 1 Tops Out in Nanjing
UNStudio’s proposed design concept envisions a dynamic waterfront community characterized by low density and lush greenery working-living environment that will bring a new experience to users, neighborhoods and citizens. Upon completion, the project will add new vibrancy to Nanjing, while contributing as a hub for culture, finance and innovation.
The sustainable design of the G72 development reflected in layered ways, focusing on achieving a low carbon environment. It proposes a multi-layer transportation network, including a direct connection with the underground public transport system. At the same time, by introducing separate waterfront footpaths and pedestrian bridges, walkability is promoted throughout the site.
Additionally, UNStudio’s design strategy adopted active energy saving technologies to lower the energy demands of the building. The office towers utilize prefabricated components as well as a modular supporting structure. Solar panels installed on the roofs of all buildings will meet the daily energy demand of the buildings.
