UNStudio celebrates official opening new office in Shanghai

Today UNStudio celebrates the official opening of ‘UNStudio Asia’, with its first office located in Shanghai, China.

UNStudio Asia is a full daughter of UNStudio, which was founded by Ben van Berkel and Caroline Bos in Amsterdam in 1988 and currently also counts Gerard Loozekoot, Astrid Piber and Harm Wassink as partners. UNStudio Asia is intricately connected to UNStudio Amsterdam. The new Shanghai office initially served to facilitate the design process for the Raffles City project in Hangzhou - currently in the Design Development stage, with construction now starting.

In view of UNStudio’s strong success in the wider Asia-pacific region, as evidenced by a number of realized projects, projects under design, and winning competition entries, it is envisioned that UNStudio Asia will in the next two to five years expand to a stable multinational team of all-round and specialist architects.
