UNStudio has designed One Helix, the highly sustainable new European headquarters for Neogene Therapeutics. The 6,515 m2 building - a combination of laboratory and offices with supporting functions and amenities - is being developed on the Amsterdam University Medical Centre (Amsterdam UMC) campus by Breakthrough Properties, a leading global life sciences real estate developer.
Construction has now started on One Helix and the state-of-the-art biotech research facility is due for completion in the summer of 2025.

UNStudio Designs One of the Most Sustainable Laboratory Buildings in the World
The five-story Neogene Therapeutics Headquarters will be located on the campus of the Amsterdam UMC, one of Europe's leading medical institutions. The UMC is a campus that brings together physicians, scientists, researchers, entrepreneurs and businesses with the aim to improve patient outcomes in the clinical care environment.
Neogene Therapeutics (Neogene), a wholly owned subsidiary of global biopharmaceutical company AstraZeneca, is a clinical-stage biotechnology company pioneering the discovery, development and production of advanced T-cell receptor (TCR) therapies that target a broad spectrum of solid cancers.

The all-electric, net energy positive building is designed to maintain net zero emissions and has achieved BREEAM Outstanding certification. The design for One Helix also targets a low embodied carbon footprint, achieving an MPG score of ≤0.6.
