Daegu Wolbae IPARK Completed

UNStudio's designs for the Daegu Wolbae IPARK have been completed.
In 2012, we were commissioned by the Hyundai Development Company to design an intervention that would break down the ultra-standardized approach to apartment living in South Korea.
For this development, we adopted a ‘people first’ approach, focusing on health, identity, community and psychological wellbeing.
By producing a series of colourful facades that reflect the identity of Daegu, and placing green parkland at the focal point of the two IPARK blocks, we not only allow for recreation, but encourage community engagement and healthy lifestyles.
This family friendly, health attentive scheme is a rarity in Asia, but one that becomes increasingly important as city populations continue to grow.
