Palas Residential

At the core of the design is the Horizon, a transparent level that integrates the building into the city’s social and cultural fabric. Positioned at Palat Street level, the Horizon serves as an extension of public space, housing flexible community and cultural programmes. This open layer connects the city to the building, offering spaces for creative professionals and fostering interaction.

The Horizon also defines the building’s massing, splitting it into three distinct parts:

- The Plinth: A grounded, earthy base that reflects the materiality of the surrounding neighbourhood.
- The Horizon: A transparent, green layer that visually extends the park and houses cultural activities.
- The Sky Residences: Elevated apartments featuring wood-clad slabs and folding glass, offering panoramic views of the city.

This design approach responds to the site’s topography and the contrasting characteristics of the areas above and below the development, creating a contextual and harmonious architectural gesture.

Palas Residential draws its identity from its historical surroundings, framing views of nearby monuments through carefully designed portals. The Horizon level links these frames, creating a strong connection to the city while offering unique perspectives of Iasi’s landmarks. The building becomes a discreet yet active addition to the city, enhancing how residents and visitors experience its historical context.

Palas Residential bridges the divide between the St. Andrew’s neighbourhood and Palace Square, creating a space that fosters inclusivity and connection. The design introduces flexible cultural spaces and landscaped public areas, encouraging the fluid movement of people and strengthening the social fabric of the city.

The project prioritises well-being, sustainability, and biophilic design, incorporating energy-efficient methods, circular materials, and carefully curated green spaces. These elements create a human-centric environment that promotes health and harmony, redefining the relationship between public and private spaces.
