Astrid Piber is a Partner and Senior Architect at UNS and brings architectural and development insights to all phases of the design process, crafting strategies that align with business aspirations while embedding projects within their broader context. As a member of the UNS Global Management Team, Astrid connects insights from her diverse project experience with business strategy.
After completing her education at Columbia University, Astrid joined UNS in 1998, where she has played a pivotal role in expanding the studio’s global reach. She brings unique insights to developing design strategies that align with our client's business goals, while thoughtfully integrating these designs into their wider context.
Her expertise spans large-scale projects, from transport hubs to mixed-use developments, with a focus on holistic, inclusive solutions and position. High density developments like Raffles City Hangzhou showcase her ability to balance functionality, economic value, and sustainability. Notable works like Hanwha HQ remodeling highlight her commitment to integrating energy-generating systems, while projects such as the redevelopment of Chamartín Station illustrate her expertise in designing infrastructure that supports various modes of transport while reconnecting neighborhoods of the city. This work informs her frequent lectures to the Scientific and Advisory Group of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat.
Astrid’s trans-scalar approach—from urban design to custom interiors—emphasises user experience and placemaking, creating designs that are both innovative and deeply connected to their context.
