Located on the western side of the Blauwbrug, next to the Amstel River, the pavilion connects the festival’s ‘Watercolour’ canal route and ‘Illuminade’ land route. Its structure consists of two cube forms connected by twisting surfaces, creating 250 unique panels. Parametric optimisation ensured efficient fabrication and installation of these complex forms.
The pavilion’s tensile textile surfaces, developed in collaboration with MDT-tex, feature a pattern of openings that reveal glimpses of the interior. Focused LED projections create gradient colour changes within the structure, producing a dynamic interplay of light and colour. MDT-tex’s advanced textile engineering enabled the twisting connection of the cubes, resulting in a sculptural form designed for future integration of lighting and water harvesting systems.
The Eye_Beacon Pavilion serves as a focal point for the festival, combining functionality with an engaging visual experience
