The design for an observation tower in the ‘De Onlanden’ nature reserve near Groningen explores the potential of Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC). Developed in collaboration with ABT, BAM Utiliteitsbouw, and Haitsma Beton, the tower demonstrates how architecture and construction can enhance one another. UHPC’s high density, steel fibres, and fine grain structure allow for narrow, strong structures, enabling the tower’s cantilevered form.
