The project focused on creating lighter, modular systems that simplify manufacturing and assembly, reducing costs and on-site work. Key developments include photocatalytic coatings to eliminate VOCs and microorganisms, fire-resistant natural insulators, and durable biocomposites for outdoor use. These materials were integrated into functional components, tested in real buildings, and demonstrated improved energy efficiency, reduced condensation, and enhanced environmental performance.

Three demonstration projects validated the systems in diverse climates, showcasing their adaptability and effectiveness. The results highlight the potential of biocomposites to transform the construction industry by offering sustainable, high-performance alternatives to traditional materials. While further research is needed to optimise mechanical properties and industrialisation, some materials, such as coatings and adhesives, are already commercialised, paving the way for broader market adoption.
