The tunnel, located in Amsterdam’s expanding eastern areas, is surrounded by several new developments. The design includes two small service buildings, each with a concrete core encased in an asymmetrical skin of perforated steel plates.

Tilted roof planes and the overall asymmetry emphasise their object-like, uninhabited nature, positioning them as urban markers for the tunnel entrances rather than conventional buildings. The tunnel entrances are defined by profiled aluminium cladding, with crosswise steel beams placed over the concrete openings to contrast the linearity of the tunnel’s form.
