Theatre on the Parade

The building’s massing features offset volumes clad in natural stone and glass, maintaining sightlines to the cathedral and integrating with the square. The larger auditorium is partially sunken to reduce the building’s height, while a third-floor terrace offers views of the city.

The vertical foyer, a 19-metre-high column-free space, connects all levels and supports flexible programming for public and private events. The main auditorium, seating 950, features wooden lamellas for acoustics and a recessed floor to minimise noise. The smaller auditorium, seating 420, includes a flexible stage and retractable seating, accommodating various performance types.

Logistics are managed underground, with trucks loading and unloading in the cellar, ensuring no disruption to the square. The design connects the theatre to the Parade Square, with the café and small auditorium opening to the public during events, creating a dynamic relationship between the theatre and its surroundings.
