By leveraging the site’s natural assets, the design incorporates parks, green spaces, basins, and canals, alongside sustainable features like detention ponds, urban farms, and productive green roofs, creating a harmonious balance between urban development and ecological systems.
The vision is guided by five urban pillars: Connectivity, Creativity, Cleanliness, Community, and Cleverness. Xingdong New Area is divided into five distinct neighborhoods, each tailored to specific user groups, such as Artists, Educators, and Innovators, fostering a sense of belonging and well-being for 200,000 new residents and 2.5 million daily commuters. Designed as a walkable district, amenities are within a 10-minute walk, and a vehicle-free ‘Eco Spine’ promotes active lifestyles. The plan also accommodates diverse social units, balancing high-energy and low-energy living, while enhancing urban life with key moments and iconic destinations to encourage social interaction and cultural vibrancy.
