Inspired by sneaker design, Remode combines cutting-edge material innovation, circularity, and comfort to meet the demands of today’s diverse work environments.
From the outset, sustainability was at the core of Remode’s design. The chair is crafted from highly durable and sustainably sourced materials, including 55% recycled plastics, of which 44% are ocean plastics, using the innovative Akulon® RePurposed material. Its lightweight design and disassembly-ready construction ensure that components can be repaired, replaced, and recycled, significantly extending the chair’s lifespan.
The netweave fabric used for the seat and back is made from 80% post-consumer recycled polyester and is Cradle to Cradle® Certified, merging style, comfort, and sustainability.
Remode draws inspiration from sneakers, combining ergonomics, comfort, material innovation, and aesthetics. This influence is reflected in the chair’s smooth contours, accent colour control button, and netweave seating that reveals its mechanics. The design balances functionality and style, making Remode suitable for offices, third spaces, and home environments.
Remode is designed to support active posture and reduce strain on the body. Its synchro-movement mechanism ensures the seat and back move together smoothly, while flexible armrests and individually adjustable features provide a high level of customisation. Options for netweave or upholstered cushioning enhance comfort, making the chair versatile enough for any task or duration.
By combining circular design, innovative materials, and ergonomic excellence, UNStudio and Ahrend have created a product that sets a new standard for comfort, adaptability, and environmental responsibility.
