Located in Melbourne’s Southbank, the project redefines urban living with its innovative design, sustainability focus and integration of public and private spaces. The Green Spine is the defining feature of the design, a vertically networked system of platforms, terraces, and verandas that weave up two towers. This architectural element splits the mass into two high-rise structures, revealing the geological-like strata of their cores.
The spine extends Southbank Boulevard upwards, creating a vertical public realm that connects the ground level to the podium and beyond. This fluid gesture integrates nature, public space, and culture into the building, offering panoramic city views, increased daylight, and outdoor spaces for residents, workers, and visitors.
The podium is designed as a publicly accessible space, featuring a marketplace, retail and entertainment areas, and a BMW experience centre. Its rooftop park is reserved for public use, providing a green oasis in the heart of the city. The podium’s open and permeable design invites visitors to ascend through stairs and platforms, connecting them to the retail and entertainment spaces and culminating in the public garden.
With its twisting, sculptural silhouette and commitment to sustainability, the project sets a new standard for urban development in Melbourne, creating a landmark that is both iconic and inclusive.
