Looking backwards to design cities of the future

The Green Mile

2022

Meaningful public space for all walks of life

The Stadhouderskade, once a vibrant green belt in 17th-century Amsterdam, has become one of the city’s most polluted and dangerous streets, dominated by vehicular traffic and a lack of space for nature or public life. However, this historic street holds potential to be reimagined as a thriving, sustainable, and inclusive public space.
