The building reflects its surroundings, incorporating small-scale restaurants and boutique stores into a vertical arrangement visible from street level. Inside, street life elements mix with open-layout retail spaces, punctuated by kiosks, encouraging exploration across multiple levels.
The facade, based on a hexagonal grid, features multi-layered components that create depth and varying perspectives. A gradient transition regulates transparency, while large double-height openings, or ‘urban eyes,’ connect the interior with the exterior, serving as display platforms and balconies.
A central void organises vertical circulation and orientation, connecting all levels from the basement to the skylight art installation. Rounded plateaus within the void form intimate plazas, visually linked to the facade’s urban eyes. This design creates a cohesive urban interior, reflecting the dynamic character of Shanghai.
